The Jamaica Public Service done lost their minds! I got the shock of my life this morning when I opened my electricity bill. The amount due looked more like a phone number or the population of a small island. I live in an apartment, not a two storey house. I don’t run a funeral home or a meat shop. How can my energy bill be in excess of nine thousand dollars? Their customer care lines have been busy all morning, I suspect that even JPS employees are calling to query their bills too. Apparently electricity has become a luxury item in Jamaica. I think it’s time I get over my dislike for the smell of kerosene. Now where did I put my Home Sweet Home Lamp?
wow I keep hearing about everybody complaining about their bills.. my bill for this month not so bad. I hope I dont get a big surprise next month too.

ReplyDeleteOh so true Gussie, "Home sweet home" lamps sound like the thing! The JPS just keeps getting the go ahead from the OUR to charge us as much as they want.
ReplyDeleteMi caan manage! I'm going to resort to cold baths, charging my cellular phone and laptop at work and drinking cold Milo in the mornings to save on electricity.

ReplyDeleteTrust me, conserving electricity only makes your bill actually go up. Right now I'm baffled as to what else I can cut back on. My outside lights are 7watts each. I have 2. They're on for about 4 hours at night.
My indoor lights are no higher than 11watts each. I have about three on for about 4 hours at night. I do not have a microwave or an electric kettle or stove. I have one of those energy saving fridges. I live in virtual darkness and yet my bill never goes down.
